Friend picked up this matched set Monday, gross approx 183" with a conservative 16" spread. Several other accounts of one or both sides missing already.

Trees look fairly green, also. Here in NE AR, bucks are again chasing does.

Nice set of horns and would love to see the boy carrying them.
Crazy weather this year as the grass is still green here also. But according to the weatherman that is about to change shortly.

Ed Ed, white is headed your way along with some wind and a bit of cold. Been nasty here since 6ish lastnite, but only dumped 2-3" from the looks of it. I too have seen a couple of one sided bucks this past weekend, as a rule it's about mid January before they drop around here.

Extremely mild winter here so far also. I don't recall having snow on the ground for a 24hr period to this point and few if any sub freezing days.

Nice sheds! Here in Pa they've started dropping antlers about a week ago. Odd, because in some places they held on to them until as late as early April in one area I hunt. Many biologists contribute early antler loss to lack of food. Here we have a dismal mass crop of both acorn and beech. Not to change the subject but I'm looking for other states to hunt, and have been eying W/V. Where do I start looking? Have a great day! Dave

Bucks in NJ have been dropping their antlers for more than a week now. A roadkill last Sat. had only one antler. Some taxidermists had bucks with horns ready to drop at the end of our Buck Season on Dec 10th. It is thought that the bigger bucks shed first- maybe weak and worn out from the rut. About 4 years ago I saw a buck with horns running a young doe the first week of March.

Al
The cold hit yesterday but no snow and the wind made you feel the cold. Expecting a possible 2” today but afterwards a short warming trend is forecasted. The deer are definitely not having a hard winter to deal with so far. Have to check with my hunting partner if they even are herding in this weather.

Thanks Dave W. Are they're any areas(without giving out your own hot spots) that might be better than others? Would even consider a guide for the first trip down there. I hunt with a crossbow and inline. I use the inline in rifle season as well. Thanks and have a great day! Dave

Depending on things i don't understand or know about horns begin to drop at different times of year. Sometimes early, sometimes late. Sometimes does have well formed antlers, does anyone know if they also drop or wear them year round. One doe I seen that had been killed had a well matched small eitht point basket rack. I don't mean to horn in on this thread and hope that I am basically on the same subject. What a great shed in the picture....Wow...

Dave I would like to steer you in the right direction but unfortunately I gave up deer hunting in WV many years ago in favor of the big bucks in Ohio. Plenty of deer in WV but mature bucks are harder to find. Crossbows are also out unless you get a special permit in WV, but legal for Ohio.

I seen a pair of basket 6's on the way home lastnite, both sides intact which is odd for around here.

On Sunday two decent bucks were seen here in Ohio, each had dropped one antler, one still on. Close to being done it appears.
