As you may or may not know I have been working on this project for 5 years.
My Mission started almost 5 years ago. To build a .62 Cal Rifled hunting Muzzloader. I toyed with the idea of having a custom made ML by TVM or one of the Custom manufactures but about the Cheapest I could come up with was in the $1200 class. Not in my budget plus I loved the idea of having a multi barrel Renegade.
SOOO on to my story.
I found a Donor ML. Its a .54 Renegade. I found it used on one of the ML sites for sale. Owner was asking $250 and I wound up buying it for $200 shipped. Took it out to shoot it and it shot decent groups with both round ball and Sabots. Outstanding .54 cal shooter already. What more could a guy ask for? Bigger is better I always say.
Next step was to secure a barrel for my project. Long Hammock Barrel out of Florida was my only source that made a .62 cal rifled barrel with the flats to match the Factory TC. They had a LONG WAIT. Next step was to get a Percussion Module from Track of the Wolf and have it properly fitted. Long Hammock did this work but it took them over a year.
In the photos below you can see the semi finished project. I have sights to drill and tap over the weekend and its ready to head to the range.
$200 for the ML.
$100 for the Barrel.
$100 for the Percussion module and misc Thimbles Ramrod, Sights and keystock.
$150 in assembly charges.
Total cost for a interchangeable .54 and .62 cal Thompson Center Renegade ML.
$550
Or PRICELESS as this is one of a kind.
I may have the barrel finished after I shoot it enough to know its a keeper but for right now I am going to let it age natural.
Ill report back on my findings on the range report and any venison it attracts.
