Ebay my friend, be sure to check seller's feedback score and return policies so you don't buy something that you don't want. Make sure you know your exact draw length and what poundage you want also. I have a switchbackxt and love it. They are going for 1/2 or less of what they were new. Good luck and Mathews has been good for me to.

Mathews makes an excellent compound bow as do many others. Of course draw length, draw weight and general purpose of the bow will be determining factors of the type of bow that will fit him best. I could help you find some bows at a good price but would require some input from you and your son. The best deals are on used bows but there are also some very good deals from time to time on new ones also. The accessories for the bow can get quite expensive also.

I have a buddy that is a diehard Mathews man. He swears by Mission bows [made by Mathews] and their great value. He said that whatever the hottest current Mathews is will be branded a Mission in a couple of years. I don't know if that is exactly the case, but if you get a new bow and you like Mathews you owe it to yourself to check out the Mission offerings. Joe

There must be changes made each year to the newest compound bows to keep the buyers interested and Mathews uses the limbs, risers, cams and other components from previous years models to construct the Mission line of bows. I have a Mission Menace for my wife and it is an excellent bow. Doug

I just picked up a completely loaded 2 yr old Mathews Switchback XT for my son. With the quiver and 1/2 doz. arrows it cost me $400. I would suggest that you visit your local pro shop and see what his draw length is and if possible shoot a couple used bows while you are there and then you can make a informed decision. There are PLENTY of used bows on the market that are only 2-3 yrs old as there are PLENTY of guys who have to have the latest and greatest=you save big time. Research how long the model was made and you will get a real good idea of when the bow was made and how long. There are great deals on E-Bay if you can not score locally.

I would advise you as strongly as possible NOT to buy any bow model untill you have shot it first enough to be sure it fits you.
Learned that one the hard way.
