last night squaring/setting up gun after bedding,3rd screw etc>to the range & this is pure luck w/ box @ approx 30yds to dial to make sure it would hit 100yds board. there was a metal roofing screw which must have hit perfectly dead-center but wanted to show the volatility of the 200sst also exit side of box the .40 gun started raining hit the 100yd board without scope adjustment so started grouping, some shots were not chrony'd early due to pulling because of rain 1st -3shots@ 100yds-no cleaning continued to six count-group approx .340-.350,conditions were changing weather wise, cloudy>sun, wind getting stronger & speeds on chrono were going down to approx 2863fps from one of the first readings of 2900,2898fps(i'm sure vent opening-lehigh) wind started getting stronger & a downpour did not get #7 & #8 photo'd because of aborting the bench due to lightning & rain load was n110/varget---10/64 200sst sabotless

Deadeye...........that is good shooting! Did not know you were working on a .40 cal. Pac-Nor? Are you doing any sizing or knurling on those .40 SST's ? Veggie/wool wad under it? Groups like that could convince me to get a .40 Richard

Did you have to do anything special to get PN to build you the 40 barrel. What if you don't mind my asking what are the specs on it? Very impressive. Jon

The photos covered more than my screen and I thought what a great group. Then I moved it and I saw the name of the shooter. No longer surprised. You consistently make those bugeye/small size groups. Great shooting. The other good thing is I have I have one of those barrels.

Has me green with envy!! I always thought a .40 with a saboted .375 or .358 bullet would be the berries.

to be fair-this is one day-one group- i was told this was possibly developed by chuck41 originally(load),thx chuck41.
the barrel was obtained(used) from someone who wants to remain unknown & apparently a run while they were producing those a while back, guess i got lucky twice!

Great shooting!!! I used to get groups like that until I figured out that I had sabot failure and it was actually only the first shot keyholed that hit the paper

:)great shooting. My 40 is so consistent and repeatable, cold, hot, dirty, clean, day after day, year after year that shooting just got boring. Your recessed plug with 10/64 and my RB proprietary plug with 12/64 shoot the same speed, but my groups aren't quite that tight.

update-back to reality ;D on a clean bore-same vent-lehigh-.034 returned w/ 6 loads ran my fouler on last posted target(far right) which includes #7 & #8 shot prior in windy conditions(approx)15-18mph-from approx 11"00 position-wind mostly last 20yds@ target. i have tree's as cover approx 80yds then switched to new target to the left for a 5shot group,when#4 fell out-did not shoot#5-save for later. note- noticed possibly when new vent was wearing poi was changing slightly-seen this before many times then #4 i knurled these a little tighter but i think i will loosen them back up & go to a new vent again. noticed approx last 5 shots the primer was bulding just under the rim- started approx shot #6 probably due to the deep recessed plug

Deadeye..........Whewwwwwwwwwww! glad you posted those other targets.........Now at least, I don't have to mortgage the house to get me a .40 right away;D Richard richard-if you overlay these targets 1,2&3 would have went into the group making the bughole slightly larger w/ 11shots total excluding the fouler & #4. this barrel has much more potential since no adjusting on powder charges as of yet. with my deep recessed plug maybe a 9/64 may be the ticket. from the first observation here i'm guessing it liked the vent around.031-.033. it may be possible to adjust an accurate powder charge to the .034-.035 vent-million dollar question? hint*-in the .45- i think you will have some excellent groups(@100yds) with the 300gn xtp's(sabotless). during the 325 thread when sub'd 300xtp's for fps test there was a lot of bugholing going on with those. they were very easy to knurl to fit & should fit your bullet budget.

deadeye,
If I wasn't a poor man, I ask you to come to "the Great Land' and do the shooting for me, luckly ever I can hit a 1500 pound animal at a 100 yard....this year, maybe not next. Anyway that is very fine shooting, I hope you can report a five shot group, in one hole soon. Marty

bigmoose- i do need your help on dime size groups as i am handicaping this evening to a "quarter'' ;D,, well i'm somewhat happy with adjustment & such, just could not handle 1-3/4'' groups @ 100yds-knew something was wrong-amazing the little things-adjustments to get smaller "bugholes". & especially chasing under .5moa groups out of smokeless mz! now for fine-tuning w/.40/200sst
