I own a couple of Springfields, one a mil-spec the other a fully loaded. You can never go wrong with the 1911. And you will absolutely love that Kimber. Never owned one but I've been lucky enough to shoot a few of them.

Thanks. I sure hop it shoot's as good as it look's. My son just bought a Target II ss... Had to send it back first thing as the trigger was creepy and sandy feeling. They sent it through the custom shop.. He got a call from them today telling him it was going to be all hand fitted and be back in 10 days.Kind of makes it a plain lable custom gun...But he is going to save the documentation to prove it. Thanks drop

I had a Kimber .45 apc Ultra RCP II that I hated. A buddy of mine really Wanted one,and when we saw one at a local gun show he talked me into buying it(he didn't have to try very hard). When I took it out the first time I only put 2 clips through it. Didn't like how much barrel jump it had when fired. Next time I took 4 boxes to the range with me,hoping I would get used to it. After the 3 or 4 clip the clip release button was a lil loose.after the 5or 6 one it Was about to fall off. Tightened it up,3 clips later it was jigling again. Couldn't keep it Tight. My buddy ended up offering to send it back it back to kimber if I would sell it To him. Took me about 3 seconds to agree. Since it came back he hasent had any problems with it. He loves it, but it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth for them. But that's just my humble opinion.

I have two of them and love them. I bought a full size plain jane back in early '97 and liked it so much that I bought a Custom Compact in SS in '98. I've been carrying the Compact since, and it has over 10,000 rounds on it now. Pay attention to your recoil spring, and when it starts to get week, replace it with a set of springs from Wolf. The Compact is an officers model. We have been looking around for something for my wife, and I think I've settled on Kimber's 9mm with the aluminum frame (Agregis I think). First she needs to start going to the range though. I'm not dropping $1200 on something that looks pretty in the gun safe.... lol
I love the 1911. It has been my favorite handgun platform since the day I first picked one up (Colt Elite in '93), but I have absolutely no desire to own or shoot any of them that's smaller than an officers model. I don't like the way the feel, and I doubt that I'd like the way they shoot either.

I had a kimber dealer tell me at a gun show last year... The compacts are more critical to proper hand position and control that the full size. Something about they wont cycle properly . So I bought the full size..and love it. I am not a handgun shooter..yet anyway. Drop

Yes, regardless of brand, the ultra compacts are very sensitive to a number of things including the proper grip and type of ammo in order to cycle reliably.

I'm typically a Kimber fan, but this past summer I ran a pair of S&W in our local matches and was very impressed. Have a Sig Scorpion that's been a great shooter too.
