I'm pretty sure this is the buck that I didn't shoot the 2nd day of firearms season. I had him dead to rights at 200 Yds, but he was facing away almost identically to the last pic. I waited for him to turn broadside, and he did, but I would have had to slide the bullet right next to a tree at 20 Yds, so I set up for him to walk past the tree. He never did, instead he turned and walked directly away from me when he was hidden from view behind the tree. I had a close encounter with one of his sons on Saturday (30 Yds). Same white around the eyes. I believe his son is a 2.5 Y.O. 8 point. If I don't see him during late archery season, I know what I'll be scouting for in 2011!

lot of snow for may 12/ ;D,very nice buck Yeah, I know! He's keeping his rack late into the year as well. ;D Durn Moultrie I-40. The LCD screen took a dump and I can't see anything to change the settings on it. To fix it, they want almost as much as a new one so I'm just going to live with it as it is. Pics were taken Monday morning at 8:30 a.m.

:)Very nice deer. At least you left a herd bull to breed the does. This deer doesn,t look very old.

Larry, he wasn't left on purpose, I just couldn't bear to take a "Texas heart shot" on him @ 200 Yds. There's at least 2 of his sons (or at least one brother and a son) running around that are younger than him. He had a slight pot belly a month ago.

Really a fine looking anaimal. Around here they never let them go so they can grow. They shoot anything in sight. Years ago when I first started hunting Deer, they were very scarce you were lucky to see a Deer in a week of hunting. Now is a different story they are all over the place and they still shoot them any size in some area's I belong to a club we have an 8Pt or better rule, if you shoot something smaller it's a $100 fine, But one can meat hunt by killing Doe Deer no limit on them. It's really nice to see a deer like the one in the picture and know he will be let go to grow. I have passed up some really nice Buck Deer. It's a thrill to see alot of bucks during the rut. I wish I would have been in a club like this one years ago. Last year I passed on a very nice 8PT Buck this year haven't been out this year as I broke my left knee a finger and my jaw in a fall. I hope to get out this Friday and Saturday as Md. has a 2 day rifle hunt, am some what better cast off and I have a soft brace for my leg Well I will see nothing ventured nothing gained. Lou
