6 miles of walking through 12" of snow, -30 windchill, snow flurries, numb hands and toes, and a 194" (gross) buck with 20 minutes of legal light left. Priceless! A day I shared with my buddy that we shall never forget. ;D Sorry for the fuzzy pic it was with a phone and getting dusk. He missed him broadside @ first light 9 hours earlier but I guess that wouldnt have been much of a story

This is my buddy's deer actually. We found him at first light and got to within 200 yards from him. He took aim, bang!...nothing, no reaction at all The deer looked at us and walked into the slough beside him. We took up the trail, found no blood and ended up walking after him for several miles in large circles. He was looking for some lovin and just would not stop walking! We caught up to him several hours later, pushed him out of a patch of bush and my friend made an amazing running shot. DRT. After high fives and applause for the shot that obviously took out both shoulders we walked over to see his trophy. It quickly became apparent that he hit it square in the head, not the shoulders. "just trying not to waste meat" was the excuse he gave . 150 yards with a 270 wsm. We also found a hole in one of his points from a .243 bullet from a previous close call. I tried my best to push a .277 bullet into the hole so I could tease Rob even more but it couldnt be done. Lots of hard work and a little good fortune made for a successful hunt. Thank God for good health, good friends and an understanding wife.

Congrats to teamwork success of you and your buddy on a nice buck. To haul that boy out is going to take some teamwork for sure.
Part of the fun and joy when hunting with a good buddy is when an opportunity appears for some ribbing. Just makes the hunt that much more memorable.
Having an understanding wife for a hunter who needs to be outdoors is a priceless gem.
