Not ML kills but 50cal non the less (50-110) Picked them up from the taxidermist this morning, a couple of color phased black bears I took in Manitoba on my annual spring hunts. I'm cursed with colored bears!! First is a blonde done in a rug that has the neatest raccoon eyes. Then my brown and is she something, hair is a honest 6" long and thick all over. I almost passed her up as I really wanted a black, sure am glad I had a change of mind.

Very nice Al. Most people would probably thing the color phase bears were very special. I've only seen black ones myself.

Those are great looking trophys. Especially the full mount on the cinnimon colored black bear with the white front. Some people call them the poor mans grizzly. Congrats.

So you had them done here in the states. A friend of mines uncle got a big brown bear years ago up north and had a full mount done at a Canadian taxidermist. When it came back across the border the Canadian customs wanted thousands of dollars in duty for it and he told they could "stuff it".
Surprised you didn't cause any accidents bringing them home. When I used to move furniture in the summer this customer had a cheetah in a full mount. So we loaded up the truck to deliver the shipment and had the cheetah strapped in the rear. This old man was at the residence to help us unload and he open the door and pinned it back then went to open the other one and seen that cheetah looking him in the eye and almost had a heart attack. Had to send him home.

Thanks fellas for the comments. I just love the way this brown one came out.
Ken, never had a problem bringing bear hides across, but never tried a full mount. As far as accidents, none bringing it back, but I live on a main road here and had dozens of cars slow down, turn around, and stop for a lookey while I was waiting for help to take her inside.

280, she was a chunk for a spring bear.
Jeff, a brownie hunt is on my bucket list for someday, maybe a retirement present for self. But for the time being, I'm addicted to these spring blackies!!!

Neat mount, nice rug and great bears! I've only taken one up there, a black and have given thought to take another with the inline. Sure would like to take one of those color phase fellers! Have a great day! Dave

Awesome Pics. I helped a buddy bring his full body mount home in the bed of my pick up truck. The looks we got were priceless.
