Not much of a story to tell. I shot a doe at the first sign of light. She was 40 yards out in some brush. When I shot I saw a 1" grape vine explode in front of her. I new the bullet must have been deflected, but the deer was knocked done and ran of tail down. At 9am I got out of my stand and started to trail the doe. I had gone about 75 yards when I saw the 8pt running broadside threw the brush about 60 yards ahead of me. He never saw me and never new what hit him. 250g SST blew his lungs to pieces and took the top of his heart off. He dropped like a sack of potatoes. Their was no sign of the doe, no blood, just hair and no trail in the leaves. My brother and I walked in the direction she ran for 100 yards. I was about to give up when my brother saw some blood 150 yards out. Turns out the bullet did get deflected and hit her rear knee. Darn near blew her rear leg off. Found her about 400 yards out. :-)

Very good that you got both,,,, I had 3 entrance wounds on a buck one time from one shot hitting a small limb,,, gongrats on the deer and good job sticking with the doe trail.

Both deer have horns....Did the doe have a rack or is this a different deer then the knee shot doe?

Three point was a different deer, a friend shot that one.
Buck was shot offhand.
I started shooting CMP matches three years ago. Did wonders for my offhand shooting.
