first time i go archery in 20 some years and i only get to hunt for an hour. I see 4 doe walking past me at 40 yards. too far for me. i let them walk. gets the blood pumping though. then 2 minutes later my nephew texts me saying he got a doe. he said he hears it thrashing, so i told him to stay in his stand and ill be over in 15-20 minutes wich will give some time for the deer to expire. so i get over there and see his father, my brother-in-law, and as we go to cross the creek we jump what i thought was the deer. but here we just kicked up 3 more he tells us. we go to see where his deer is cause it fell over an embankment leading to a creek. we head over and i see it. it look like she is down so we both start down and she starts to get up. he only has one arrow left and he is behind me so he tells me to put one more in her. so i do and she goes down all the way. she never did get up all the way. post mortem we find he hit her alittle high and back but he got the top of the lung and liver. so it was just to speed things up and mercy on the animal. his shot was fatal so i said it was still his! it was his first archer harvest. I would never take that away from him. it was a good morning. I was happy to see him get some thing even though i never got any thing in archery and he does his first trip out. he is a lucky son of a gun. here are some pics. proud daddy and son

Nice deer. We have saying in my clan "good Lord takes care of kids and fools, the rest of us have to look out for ourselves". I think at times I manage to fall into the fool class. It's really great that a youngster gets hooked into this addiction. It's better (maybe not cheaper) than any of the other stuff he could be into

DB, he is a lucky kid! on his first hunt when he was 12 he shot a monster 8 or 10 point buck with a rifle! the next year he got a 4 point and a doe with a rifle. now his first day archery he gets a doe. but he lives out there and spends alot of time looking around in the woods. so he puts the time in too.

Hmmm....maybe you should be taking lessons from him!
It seems like he's put his time in and taken the lessons he learned from you and his father and put them to good use!
