I had been out 3 times so far looking for meat with no luck. Spent all evening friday and a 3.5 yr old 8 ptr came out right at dark and walked right up to the stand. He was straight downwind and after a few minutes, he finally new something was not quite right. He didnt spook but walked and then trotted into a weed patch. As soon as the younger buck trotted away, this one grunted about 75 yrds away and started walking toward where the smaller buck went in the weeds. I was started second guessing passing the first buck as he walked away but when I seen this one I didnt have to give much thought. He was walking parallel from me and I stopped him by grunting and he was just a touch over 30yrds. I had a rock solid hold buried in the center of his lungs and shot. I was zoned in and it felt good, heck it gave the good sound too. Then the buck just casually walked about 20 more steps and stopped as if trying to figure out where that came from. I have shot truckloads of deer and never seen one shot good and just walk away. Now I was starting to get worried. I grabbed another arrow and as he was casually walking from the set aside weeds into the woods at about 51 yrds, I let another fly. This time he bucked in the air and took off in the woods. I sat a few minutes until it was good and dark. Got out of my stand and did not have my light. Could not find my arrows. Now my head was all kinds of messed up. Second guessing everything from my first shot to his size. I had to walk a half a mile back to my truck and drive home to get my coon hunting light. Well, When I got home the whole family wanted to come with dad... I had travelled all week at work so mama and all was coming. Then had to get them dressed, the oldest had to find her coon light, and dad meanwhile was freaking out! All I could think about was finding the first arrow. When we finally got there, and got everyone out of the truck , I found my first arrow - it looked like it came out of a 5 gallon bucket of blood. I found my second arrow and it had white hair, greasy, and a little meat. Right where the deer walked into the woods he opened up and left a path over a foot wide to follow. My oldest daughter (3 almost 4) picked up tracking quick. She was doing a good job and leading the pack, as we went about 40 yards or so I seen the deer. I let the daughter track right up to him. She made it to about 5 yards from him, stopped and stared for a couple seconds, turned around and said dad hold me!

This deer was 21 7/8 wide if I remember correct. wilmsmeyer good guess - I know he green scored a gross 170 1/8" and netted 158 and something. He has two kickers off each g2 that measure around 4" each too that you really cant see. Here is a bad pic of the tracking crew..

Great deer and even greater details. When the child seen the deer and hesitated before saying: "Dad hold me" is so real, so childlike and several floors above wonderful. Ozark
