Ok long story as short as I can make it..........
I own a TC Encore. Last year I saw how great the 3.5" Hastings slugs for the 20ga were. I called Fred at Bullberry, and he had 3 custom made Encore barrels ready to ship. The first two were for the president of Hastings and the other was not spoken for. So $600 later I recieved my barrel. Internal finish is unbelieveable, according to Fred he couldnt remember were the blanks came from, but he wasnt going to build anymore. They were waayy to hard to get in. So ive got a 22" straight taper 1" around semi heavy slug barrel with a 11* target crown. Machine work is beautiful, bore is shiny. Very well made barrel. Chambered in 3.5" slugs.
I bought 1 case of the Hastings 3.5" slugs and they shot awesome. Usually around 1.5" but I did have a couple clover leaf 3 shot groups. Recoil was a BIG factor. They kicked so much worse than any 12ga ive ever shot.
So last week I found out that Hastings went out of business along with the barrel and ammunition division. So no more 3.5" slugs! I could probley find some online but the recoil was so bad I might like going back to a 3" slug.
So Now im looking at a couple slugs and I wanted to get any info on them as possible.
Fed Barnes Tipped expander 3" slug
Rem Accutip 3"slug
Win Partition Gold 3" slug
What do you guys think it will do since it was chambered for the 3.5"? DO you think it will still shoot fine? I figured I will test all three and hopefully one will shoot good. I dont know what the twist of barrel is but im thinking a 1-28".
Any performance info, like drop or accuracy. Id like to sight in dead on at 130 yards. I just bought a Nikon M223 scope 3-12 with the BDC600. The spot on has that shooting a solid 200-250 yards.
