I would like to get back into smokeless muzzleloading. I've been there and done that with the Savage MLII. Not my cup of tea for several reasons. Anyway, I was told that there is a company in PA that will convert a centerfire Remington 700 to smokeless frontstuffer that uses Pac-Nor tubes. Anyone here have experience or information regarding this conversion. I have a M-700, 300 Saum SS with a first generation TI stock gathering dust inthe safe. I'm thinking this rifle would be a candidate.

:)stoney the guy in Pa is pete but he only will supply you the plug. You need to build the gun yourself. It's not hard and you could just send pacnor your barreled action and have them spin the old one of and install the new one. This will only leave you with maybe some stock inletting and headspacing the plug. When your ready let me know I'll walk you thru it.

I talked to Pete the other day and the plug is $95. Real nice guy to talk to on the phone. I also called Penny at Pac-Nor, $510 for a ss fluted barrel chambered for the plug. Hope this helps you out. I am getting ready to start one of these builds myself.

I built one using a DVD I got from Richard Franklin at Richardscustomrifles.com. It uses a Knight breech plug and nipple and I used a Pac-Nor .45 1-20 twist barrel. I also got a savage type barrel nut from Pac-Nor which made head spacing a snap. I just got it finished and am still working on the loads. Kicks like hell though. Brush

My 45 is like a whisper on my shoulder compared to what my 50 was.

I am using 78 grs. 4198 for the 275 gr Parker and 73 grs. 4198 for the 325 gr. Parker. This is what Richard recomends. I haven't chronographed it yet but it is supposedly in the 2900fps range. I have to get more bullets and experiment more. Brush

Brush. Very interesting would like to hear follow up's on how it is working for you. Did you use the b/p standerd or did you add a vent liner? Jon
