Well I thought I would post this my way of thanking everyone on this site for all the help and support with building my rig, and getting the right load. Had 6 tags this season 2 buck tags and 4 doe tags laced 4 deer with my crossbow and dropped two with my savage. I have shot plenty of deer over the years and also have half a dozen nice bucks on the wall, but this doe I will remember for a long time. We had plenty of snow here in MA during ml season. Sitting in my ladder stand on a power line cut at the last half hour of light a deer came out well over 150 yards away I cranked up the scope and thought it was a skipper so I passed on it. About 20 min later another deer came into the cut I could tell right away it was a mature deer settled the gun on my shooting rail and tapped the button on for the electronic red cross hair settled it on the deers back took a deep breath and squeezed of the shot BANG FLOP. reloaded right away with Mac's ram rod and as I was walking up on the deer I knew it was well over 150 yards. The bullet dropped down into the shoulder and broke both shoulders it was still in tack, it fell out when skinning stuck to the pelt on the other side of shoulder. I had marked a tree were the deer dropped went back the next day pulled my range finder out and and just smiled when I saw 206 yards in the window. I had practiced shooting at 150 yards in the off season, I know what my limitations are on shooting long range are but having this savage in my hands makes me feel like its limitations are better than mine, my journey with this savage is just beginning. The gun sits in a Richards wildcat stock with a BSA cats eye 50MM electric reticle scope the load was 42.5 grains of sr4759 .452hornady hp/xtp with a red crushed rib. I also carry Mac"s ram rod. (would not be in the woods without it) Doug's board is the first thing I read in the morning and the last thing I read before bed. It is a great place to visit just a bunch of nice guys could not have made this journey with the help of all of you thank you and God bless. Bill

bill,
Was that a 300gr XTP? From the penetration you got on those shoulder blades, it sounds like it might have been.
Great shot! ;D

Corvair that was a 250 grain hp/xtp and to RAMRODMAN welcome aboard the camo rod was one of your first run offs it had no hat it fits perfect into my round ball starter i did not get a short starter with sheath from you. Every time i go to the range and load with your rod there is always someone playing with it pulling it out of the sheath and watching it snap together great product keep up the good work. BILL

If my Ravens get knocked out sunday I will be rooting for the patriots all the way. I really dont think the Ravens have a chance but never thought they would make it this far, The only positive on the team is Flaco QB, and a couple recivers but as for the rest they are getting old and they really showed it the last couple games. I thougtht it was a Richardson stock they have that distinctive style of TH. I guess I am going to try for one myself. Does richardson cut a ram rod channel for the stock? One question is that rust on the barrel or is it Painted like that? Thanks Lou I went and looked at the picture again, I see now no cutout I see the rods seperate. Lou
