It's funny I kill anything, just seen this group of threads above the smokeless forum. The Pacnor performed unlike any other barrel I've ever shot smokeless. Once I found its liking last spring [70 gr h4198 300 gr BO] topped with a leupold 4x14x50 VXL The guns zero has not changed from 80 degree weather to sub zero temps last night when I filled my Iowa tag. The gun also shoots 458 Hornody HP's extremely well. I shot my first animal [antelope] in NM in Sept. Then back to NM in Oct. for my elk. then my Missouri buck [8 years old 7" bases] in Dec. and the Iowa buck on New Years eve.All of these hunts are on my own no outfitters were used. I used Imr white hots in New Mexico for the elk during their ML season while I could use smokeless for the antelope during their rifle season. I was always happy with my savage barrels however the POA would change weekly, I shoot a third of what I was because of the great consistency. Here are a few pics from 09. I start my 2010 season in Feb. back in New Mexico on an unguided aoudad sheep hunt, talk to you then. Happy New Years! Thanks for reading! Jeff~

Congratulations Jeff, what are you going to do for an encore? (and I don't mean the gun). I can sense Wilms twitching right now.

Congratulations on the great season, I always look forward to seeing the pics of your hunts. You sure are making me think hard about a .50 Pacnor barrel. It obviously is working good for you!

Jeff, what's the good and bad on those White Hots? The white hots are terrible dirty but extremely accurate. I will try buckhorn 209 next time black powder is required. Jeff~

What was the score on that elk and how hard was it to get that tag? I've done Montana, going to Colorado, but have had my eye on NM.
I notice the powder tubes on your stock carrier, any way I could get the source and part # on those?
Great hunting...truly a whole wall full of trophies. I am a DIY'er myself so I can fully appreciate the increased level of difficulty!

As far as tags go in NM, their system is lottery only no preference points. Also land owners can sell their tags drawn for their ranch or units depends on the tag they draw, then you sit and wait to see who is sell what if you didn't draw a tag.The elk scored 361". Thanks,Jeff~

I can see why you can not hire a guide with a taxidermy bill like that. Great deer and elk and the pronghorn is nice too. Nice shooting!
