My season didn't go all that well but not all that bad either. I ended up with 4 deer killed with one being a 160 lbs. field dressed 10 pointer. The others were all small doe. The buck was a 150+ yard shot threw a large woods at a deep down hill angle. It was just shooting time and I could hardly see him as he walked broadside in the trees. I picked a opening in the trees about 10 yards ahead of him and waited until i saw his shoulder, then fired. He ran about 30 yards and piled up. The load was 46 grain of old lot 4759, 250 Barnes Expander with suppled sabot and CCI 209 M. Without the help of DanS's young son and son-in-law it would have took me a good day to get him up that steep hill.
The other 3 doe, two were close broadside shots and one was a head shot. Same load I used on the buck. The two broadside shots had considerable damage to both shoulders and front legs. I had to throw away 3 shoulders so the last doe I wanted for meat and took a head shot about 50 yards........nasty results!
The old Savage 10 ML has killed a lot of deer in the last 8 years. I have another but just cant bring myself to use it. Ive come to nickname her "black death". Mike
PS, Sorry but I didn't take any pictures.

Black Death is a good handle to put on a gun. When a gun has earned the honor of being named it is a keeper. Congratulations Mike, nice hunt.

Nice deer there, Mike. "Black Death" is what they call cape buffalo in Africa--but I like it for a Savage gun name too. Somehow "laminated death" doesn't have the same ring to it?
