After spending all day Saturday cutting up deer it was time to go perch fishing on Sunday. These beauties came from Fair Haven which is a bay on the south side of Lake Ontario between Rochester and Oswego. It's not often you get such a nice day on November 29th up here. It provided a nice change of pace.

DBinNY Nice catch. The filleting will keep you occupied for a bit but the table fare is worth it. Perch has to be one of the finest for eating when coated and pan fried. Yeah you're right about the weather and only until this morning was there a trace of the white stuff seen on the ground here. Dissappeared quickly though. Ed

Ed, had some for supper tonight. A buddy and I had the filleting job done in 1 1/2 hours flat. Much less work than cutting deer IMO. I slabbed them off, skinned 'em and he ribbed 'em. We have a limit of 50 here so 3 of us had 150. It got cold overnight and we had some of that white stuff on the ground here as well. Dan

Dan, I was thinking the same thing setting in the stand on Sunday. If my boat wasn't put up for the winter, I would have come home and headed out to my favorite spots on Canadaigua Lake. Enjoy your surf and turf Upstate style!! Charlie

Thanks Jims. Charlie, those Finger Lakes are beautiful. I was thinking of perch fishing Sunday myself but was once again consumed by cutting up deer

That's a sinkfull. We have a few of those down here in Tennessee along with it's cousins the walleye and sauger. I think I've talked my nephew into taking me in his boat this weekend to try and get a few sauger. We usually don't get enough of the yellow perch to make a mess like you've got but pick up a few along in a mixed bag. They sure are great table fare as I'm sure you know well. Wow!

That is one heck of a sink full of fish! Those are sure beautiful fish too! Looks like there are some real dandies there. I am envious of the fun catching them and the joy of eating them. Congrats on a great catch! KerryB

Thanks guys. You don't get enough days like that. The next time I'm out fishing I'll be drilling holes in the ice. It has turned really cold up here as I'm sure many of you know. Some areas of the State are getting pounded with lake affect snow off Ontario and Erie. So far we've avoided it here. When the wind turns NW we'll get our share.
