The setting was a partially harvested cornfield edge.I had been saving this spot for Shania. We were running late as usual and rolled in for a quick set up with the ground blind.I parked the 4 wheeler, we unload our gear and hike about 150 yds and set up.I was asking her about how she would react to different shot opportunities. She had all of the right answers, satisfied she would react well we settle in for the witching hour.We started hearing deer eating out in the corn and rustling around. These sounds soon faded into the distance. We made more small talk and I told her we had to shut our mouths and be still for the last 20-30 minutes.I look over my shoulder to make sure nothing is sneaking up on us and then I turned around to settle for the wait.No sooner had I settled back I took a side ways glance at Shania and she had the BIG EYES! I will let her tell the rest of the story! He went 185 field dressed..btw this is her first buck..38 grns of AA5744,RCR,250 grn XTP,Fed 209A at 80 yds.At the shot he went approx 25 yds.She is now 2 for 2. ;D I was so incredibly proud of the way she handled the situation. This buck did not want to stop,I bleated at him once and he did not hear me so I bleated again and much louder that time, still he did not stop.In desperation I REALLY bleated at him, this time it was so loud I startled myself! ;D.This made him stop!lol.Shania had to make a rather difficult shot as his backside was facing us and he was slightly quartering to her right.Elevation was perfect and the bullet actually hit him in the neck, considering the extremely tight window she had, she done a great job!Her brother chastised her this and I promptly put him in his place...he hates the fact that memory bank never seems to run dry..lol ;D

Way to go girl. You did well. You can remind your brother about your buck on the right occasions. Your dad is pleased also, I was too when my daughter got her first deer last year. Everybody in your family have a good Thanksgiving and let the Mustangs rule.

Ya gotta love that! I, for one, never had any doubts. You have a great teacher. Great job lady. (Not a thing wrong with what your using now but tell your dad you need a .45 Pac Nor for Christmas, they kick like a pussycat and shoot as flat as his BO). Go "Q"..

This is Shania, my buck was awesome, especially because it was my first buck! . I couldn't have did it without the best coach in the world aka MY DAD. . . . . . . . . ;D He always has the best spots. So far, the only times I have been huntin at I have got one. This was my second year hunting. The first time I went I got a pretty good size doe. This year I got a good size buck. My buck is a 9 pointer. When we were in the ground blind I saw the buck coming from beside us, my dad didn't didn't see him, but when I did I was sure ready, I took the saftey off and tapped my dads leg to let him know there was a deer beside us, so he told me to get my gun up and get ready, when I put my muzzeloader up to my shoulder, the buck kept stopping and walking for short periods of time, so my dad started bleating at the buck, he didn't stop so my dad bleated louder, he stopped, with his ears up looking around, curious, but not for long, I took up the slack in the trigger, and BOOOOM! He nose dived into the ground. Then my dad lifted up the blind and said come on lets go get em. After I got out of the blind I was shaking, and I felt like my legs were weak. . . . . . . . but I was excited when we found him. . . . .. . . .. . . . . . . . . and my awesome #1 brother gutted him for me. ;D I couldn't have done it without my dad.

Shania, I am not willing to give your Dad the credit. Yes, he helped you get to the point where many fail. You didn't. You had the ability to keep yourself calm enough to do the job right. We all understand that weak shaky feeling that follows success. I congratulate you and I send a high five to Q, your Dad and You.

Nothing better than getting kids into hunting. They seem to have more respect for everything. And they know the rush of the hunt too just as we did when we were young. Great job!

"There is no greater blessing for a man than unto him be born a duaghter." tar12 you have Shania. The board is aware that she is being a great blessing to you. It makes us all proud for you. That quote was extracted from Jake The Woodsman.
