Bill and I got to shoot our new bench rifle that Richard built for us yesterday.Couldn't be happier, after getting the scope dialed in,shooting lighter loads to fire form the cases I would shoot one then shoot 2 more in the same hole at 100 yds. This is going to be fun working up a good load for 600 yds. Richard does first class work.If we don't get some tiny groups at 600 yds I think it will be our fault not the rifles.

The actions are Remington short actions. The face trued and locking lugs lapped. They have "fat" parallel ground recoil lugs and sport Jewel triggers. The barrels are by BRUX www.bruxbarrels.com/gpage2.html That fellow Mike Davis in the picture is a friend of mine and also a gunsmith. This is the range where we shoot our 600 yard matches. The muzzle brakes are from Harrels, the guy who makes the nice powder measures. Barrels are 1 - 8.5 twist and the reamer is from Pacific Precision. The cartridge is called the 6mmBRX. It is a 6mmBR Lapua/Norma case with the shoulder moved (fireformed) .100" forward...............resulting in the neck shortening by that much. Since the BR case has a very long neck, it is an easy wild cat cartridge. You can pick up around 200 fps over a standard BR. The 30* shoulder remains the same. The neck on these is a "no turn" deal. Since the Lapua cases have very consistent neck wall thickness, they do not need to be uniformed or turned. Our loaded round mic's .270" and the neck clearance on the reamer is .272" giving .001" all around. The throating on the reamer is set up for the 105 gr. Berger VLD bullet or others with similar ojive's. Oh, the actions were painted with Brownell's oven cure silicone/teflon paint. Those stocks are from Bill Shehane at D&B Supply. I used the same stock, only in fiberglass, when I shot the former 1,000 yd. record. I really like the wood laminates better. My intent was not to hog Hermans thread, but since I built them, felt I could offer more details. I will also be rebarreling one of my bench guns with a Brux barrel in the same cartridge. We bought three of them together. I hope my barrel is a s good as Herman and Bills ;D Richard
