I was just wondering if anyone has shot enough of the Remington Accutip sabot slugs to give a good review on them in terms of accuracy and performance on deer. I have shot the Rem Core Lokt Ultras and had accuracy vary from MOA to 2.75" at 100yrds.
Thanks, Arthur.

My buddies Ithaca DSIII shoots both to about the same accuracy, approx. MOA @ 90yds. The Core Lok penciled through so he tried the Accutip last year. Did not laser it but I estimate 125-150 yds DRT. Pass through in the boiler room, with a Skoal can size exit hole. I don't need to tell you, your mileage may vary.

I used them in my 512 last year but only shot one smaller deer with it DRT. They were not the elusive 200 yard slug in that gun. They grouped well and I liked that they were pointed and heavy and should perform well at varying ranges.

I got good accuracy with them from my 12g H&R USH, shot one doe with them at 90 yards, double lung, no bone hit, penciled through first lung and a half, exit was good sized, doe went 20 yards and bedded down, took about 15-20 minutes to die.
I think the cartridge brass they use is too hard for good expansion on soft tissue impacts. Deer was still dead, but took her way too long to die in my opinion.

I have shot the core loct ultras out of my Ithaca, they shot well but did no damage to deer so last year I switched the the Accu Tip, they as well shoot very good groups on paper but do a much better job on deer. They actually expand not explode but expand. I was definitely more satisfied with their performance over the core loct's. My son also shot 2 deer with the Winchester xp3, they as well were very impressive on paper and on his deer. I will shoot the accutip's again this year and my son will shoot the xp3's. Either way, definitely buy the accutip's over the core loct's, or give the xp3's a try. Both rounds are very effective on deer. Happy hunting, good luck

I've tried the REM Accutips in both my Savage 210F and Savafe 220F . And they both did well ! By well I mean 3 shots in about 1- 1.5" at 100 yards !
My 12 gauge 210F likes the Rem 2 3/4 Accu , the Hornady 2 3/4 SST and the Win 2 3/4 XP3 . They all three shoot that well in my gun if I do my part !
In the 220F I get great results so far from the Hornady 2 3/4 SST as well as the REM Accu 2 3/4 . Again both stay under 1.5" at 100 for 3 shots . In the 220F I've shot the Federal Barnes Tipped 3" slugs and they shot okay although the recoil was a bit more and POI moved up about 4 inches .

Thanks for the replies I will try them and report. Bought five boxes on sales at Dicks for $9.99 ea.
FWIW, stumbled onto a net sale at Cabelas of Federal Barnes Tiped Expander slugs about 2yrs ago. Shot two boxes of them out of my Browning A-Bolt Slug hunter and made three nice 3-shot 100yrd groups that averaged out to 1.5" C-C and when I placed the 3 seperate targets one on top of the other the holes lined up about 95% the same.
So you all might wish to give them a look as well.
Once again thanks for your replies. Arthur.

Harvested a 9 point at around 125 yards with the 3' Accutip out of an Ithaca DsIII, the deer was quit a bit higher in elevation than me so the slug entered thru the shoulder traveling upward, it took out the shoulder, traveled up and hit the spine doing severe damage then exiting high on the opposite side, the bullet was trapped in the hide, it had broken thru but not completely coming out. The bullet feels like it has retained almost all of it's weight although I haven't weighed it yet, it mushroomed to the size of a nickel. Needless to say, there was no tracking. For me these slugs perform on paper and game as good as possible. That's 2 bucks, no tracking, both over 100 yard shots. I also fired one at nearly 300 yards at a rock on a powerline just for giggles when my buddy was with me, we couldn't get an exact range on the rock but there was a rock well short of the one I shot at and it ranged 272 yards so we were guessing the rock I shot at to be at least 292 yards. We had a very stiff right to left wind so I allowed for approx 36 inches of drift (just guessed) and held approx 48' or so high and squeezed the trigger. The bullet hit the dirt just barely beneath the rock and dead center left to right, it hit so close it looked like a hit. I'd never shoot at an animal that far but I was shocked to see how close I came to shooting a rock at somewhere near 300 yards, I used an old fencepost for a shooting stick. Pure luck but truly and unbelievable shot for a slug gun. I do feel confident in the ability to shoot 225-250 yards with the proper rest and conditions, amazing to think 10 years ago it was a dream to think of shooting 200 yards with a slug gun.
