Correct. The flash channel gives the pressure time to build and then fall. Just like it takes a compressor longer to fill a 5gal air tank vs a 3gal tank. This gives the pressure in the barrel time to fall as the bullet moves down the barrel. It protects the primer from seeing the full peak pressure the load created.

Exactly , which basically limits the shock of a sudden jolt of pressure by having greater volume to soften the blow of the pressure rise . A shock absorber . Thats what that increase in volume does .

In function thats what the flame channel amounts to ET , A shock absorbing chamber . It wouldnt need to even be if not for that function . As for the rest you remember my name from previous opinions we havent shared . Your response to my initial post on this thread confirmed that for me without question . That intent was obvious . Sideshow First off, the flame channel doesn’t absorb any shock. It houses reduced bore pressure coming back through a vent to minimize impact to the primer. So, you feel we haven’t shared opinions. What about the discussion of using an aluminum cooling rod or do you have a short memory? My only intent is intercepting misleading information whether it be you or someone else. You can form whatever opinion you want but your behavior tells the real story. ET we didnt share an opinion , we disagreed . Pretty basic there . We Dont have to agree either . The effect of the the slight pressure drop and lengthening of a pressure rise is what the primer sees . I prefer to think of this like a shock absorber as my term for it . Again our opinions vary . I didnt realize i needed your permission to call it as ive chosen . Geez....
