HI, does anyone own one of these and having problems with jams? I bought one in Jan. of this year and I can't shoot a full mag with out it jamming at least once. My hand loads are worse, it will jam 2-3 times with them. I also have a Hi-point and it eats anything I put in it and is slightly more accurate. I read somewhere , there's some kind of mod for the Ruger but don't remember what. Thanks all.

Since you hand load I would check the cartridge overall length and bullet type. I have a glock 36 that will not feed my 185 gr hand loads from one of my magazines, they work fine in the rest of the mags I have for the gun. If your cartridge length and the factory ammo cartridge length and bullet type are the same I might try to experiment with either lengthening or shortening the COL and see if it makes a difference. This can be done without actually loading the cartridges, (no powder or primer) and just cycling the gun by hand to see if they will feed reliably. Another thing is you could try a different magazine if you can find one.
Other than that if you bought the gun new I would send it back to Ruger and let them fix it. I did this once with mark II, it took them a couple of tries to get it right, but it runs like a champ since the second time to the ruger repair shop.
They will probably do the same for a used gun, or may even be able to troubleshoot it over the phone for you. I wish I could tell you what else to check on the ruger but my p-89 has never jammed, failed to feed, cycle, eject, etc.

I also found out some are removing the extractor and bending it slightly and they say it helps. If that doesn't help I may send id back. I bought it new.

Biggest problem I seen with the P95s are the mags. Do you have a factory mag or a aftermarket?

Both are facyory mags. Springs seem weak in both.

I shot 2 full mags today, went thru one with no jams, the second one it jamed 4 times, failed to extract, same ammo, Win. target. I removed the extractor and it appears to be case hardened, I did not try to bend for fear it may break. I polished the end a bit and removed a bur with a file. Took it out and shot 10 rounds of Federal American eagle and no jams. Will try the Winchesters tomorrow.
