Are there any knurling tools suitable for knurling a bullet? Looking for something that will knurl with repeatable consistency.

It says not recommended for jacketed bullets but I wonder if it would last if you did use it that way.

blackhawk7204,
That particular one does not handle jacketed bullets but the HCT-1 model does if you read a little further into the article and it goes for $129.00.

That one doesn't knurl, it is for cannalures. Unless I missed something.

IMHO,
I tried knuling tools and they work, however in the end I went back to the two files system. Two files and and a digital caliper, and you will get perfect bullets, thats if you are shooting sabotless, If you using sabots then any tool will work.

blackhawk,
Opps my bad I guess I did not read enough. I bet this will still work for jacketed bullets but my dull the file wheels sonner than usual.

Emailed Corbin a couple weeks ago about the HCT-2. Hello, I am interested in your HCT-2 and was wondering if it would be suitable for what I need. I have been using double cut bastard files to increase diameter of 40 cal. SST bullets from .400 to .402/.403 for muzzle loading application. This does not seem to require a lot of pressure, but consistency is the big issue. I believe this is a light knurl for the HCT-2 compared to what is applied to the lead bullets it was intended for. Would this tool work for my situation ? --------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Yes, the HCT-2 would be perfect for this. You can control the amount of expansion exactly with the depth setting. It handles all calibers from .17 to .720, also. These are in stock, $129 and shipping, and listed on www.SwageDies.com online store. D.R. Corbin, President Corbin Mfg & Supply, Inc. PO Box 2659, 600 Industrial Circle, White City, OR 97503

So when does your order come in? Seriously, this sounds like the cat's meow. Exact setting, holds the bullet, easy turning... Someone needs to take the plunge and give us the low down

I will order one, but am going to wait until my "40 sabotless barrel issue" is resolved. Sent it back last week.

Two files are all one needs-
I've shot groups in the .4's with a 0.002 thou variance. I don't think its THAT critical.
