If you have the all round receiver you might consider the DNZ.

Whatever base you decide to choose, make sure you bed it, and do so correctly. The top of the Savage receivers are RARELY true. A properly bedded base will be completely straight/true.
I prefer the Murphy steel bases and use Burris Signature rings. Some have complained that the Signature rings allow the scope to slip. I have not had that problem, but then, I do not use 50bmg loads, either.

I agree about the tops of some of my Savages. I have used the Signature Z Burris rings with the nylon inserts. They have helped. Never had any of them move.

Leupold BackCountry or Warnes Mountain Tech for an affordable picatinny rail in 7075 or Warnes if you want an affordable Weaver rail in steel. By using a true picatinny you can use good picatinny rings. I bought a set of Contessa rings from Italy at EuroOptics. These are very nice rings for under $90 a set delivered. They have 2 crossbars machined into the base of the rings. They clamp down stanag style so they fit flush on the base. www.eurooptic.com/contessa-srl.aspxThese babies are very beefy rings for a 4 screw.
