Come November, a lot of the deer around us end up dying
from hot lead poisoning.

EHD usually happens after a long dry Summer . Late August into September is when it usually strikes . It can wipe 'em out quickly . Chronic Wasting I am not that familiar with but it can take a toll very quickly . Chris

It is well none that deer can carry TB. The state of Pa issued a warning about it after a road kill doe tested positive for it. Go to there web or fb page they have pictures of what to look for and if you are hunting and get a deer with suspected tb they want the lungs and they say to call your local warden to get a replacement tag

So you can tell pretty well if a deer has TB? This is a real concern for me. The state of Ky says there have no cases of CWD reported. Funny since most of the other states around have seen CWD.

The way I understand the manner in which it is transmitted can be prevented. The blood from the animal enters you through some type of open wound. How many times have we nicked, cut, scraped, scratched our hands while dressing a deer? Use PPE and being careful are the best preventative measures a person can employ.

Thanks guys! I was afraid you could catch it through the air, and not through a cut ect.
