I am going tomorrow to test some loads in a CVA Scout Conversion and plan on starting with 55grs of H4198 and was curious as to what would and equivalent starting load of N120. The bullet is sized 275gr Parker BE using federal 209a primers.

Careful . N120 is a much faster burning powder than H4198 . Chris

N120 is a good powder but it performs better at a little higher peak than H4198. Grain for grain it will create a fair amount more peak pressure than H4198 too. I find it hard to suggest less than 55gr unless you had something like a direct ignition plug. 55gr and a 275gr bullet though will probably be in the 40-42kpsi range. That is getting kinda high for a Scout conversion.
You could try 50gr and see how it goes. That should get you under 40kpsi and probably over 2300fps. 50gr and a LRMP was clocking about 2400fps and right around 39kpsi. I would chrono as many shots as possible over a good sized temperature range. Keep an eye on the extreme spreads.
