I had one done by bestill creations and would appreciate some info.Powder is h4198 and imr 4198,bullet is hornaday 200 grain sst,and sabot is hlb.Primer is fed 209a.probaly be an inside the woods gun,but would like to be able to reach 200-250 yards after the corn is cut down. figuring 55=-60 grains of either would do the job,but would like tried already. Thanks

Used your combination of bullet and sabot with 60 grains of H4198 for several years . Great groups at 2450 fps and dead deer . I just tried 58 grains of N120 with my same bullet , sabot and primer combination . Accuracy remained great ( under 3/4" ) but velocity increased just about 230 fps . Happy , happy , happy . Chris

Are you dead set on the 200gr SST? You can get a 225gr Fury for around the same price. Around $44/50 plus shipping.
H4198 is normally what is recommended because its the "Extreme" 4198 and less temp sensitive. Around 58gr will beat any approved Western powders BH209 load. Some have luck with 60+gr but i also see lots of people running into sabot failures with 60gr+. If you want more speed than that N120 is the ticket.

I was happy with Lt blues and 225 Pittman’s last year 52gr of of H4198 and Direct Ignition. This load was being shot out of a CVA Hunter.

I thought 35-38 grains of N110 was as good as the two that I mentioned, now I see where N120 at around 60 grains is a good load as well.Elaborate please?

60gr is a very fast load for a 200gr sabot load. 58gr is good for nearly 2700fps with a 200gr bullet depending on barrel length.

You might want to try talking to a guy from KY. He has been having good luck with that type of build shooting out to 300 yds. Saw him shoot thru AR plate at 100 yds! AMAZING! It wasn't a normal looking muzzleloader. I thinking about getting one of his CVA Scout V2 builds it like your hunter I think. These things don't even use sabots. That will be something to get used to for me.

I was hoping to find a bullet that does not require sabots, but most say that a smooth form die or full form die is needed.I would like to know of a bullet in the 45 caliber that I could shoot in my cva hunter sml.I don,t know who you mean in kentucky.

You might want to check some Parker BE’s they felt ok in all three barrels of the CVA Hunters in our party.

A Barnes all copper 250 grain TEZ knurled up fit in my nephew's CVA Hunter conversion. They also fit good knurled in my two Apex conversions. I use a .060 veggie wad with them.

I was pretty impressed with the load and my dad will be shooting it this year. Recoil is mild and I know it will get the job done at 250 yards probably 300.

I should probably say 1 Hunter shot 56 grain without blowing sabots the other at 53 it blows sabots. Both were DI guns.
