So I have got the SML bug. I have a barrel and the Franklin dvd in the mail as we speak. I have read the Diy Full Form die thread by airbornemike several times and i have a question. Do I understand correctly that the very top of the 45degree bevel is all that gets squeezed? So just the very top of the little piece of barrel blank? If this holds as truth, and I have a 1.25" piece of blank could I make the die bottom and the form portion of the die all out of 1 solid piece of blank? So no insert just a top and bottom? Please feel free to give any advice you think I can use, Thanks all

Yes to both questions. On the very top edge of the 45, lightly break that edge with a file while it is rotating. This will allow smoother and more repeatable adjustments. You will need to machine 7/8-14 threads 2" long on the lower end of the die stem and machine the OD insert portion on the end without unchucking between operations. The material will need to be indicated on the bore before machining.
At some point, the lower section should be opened up to at least .459" to within .625" of the end in order to allow the bullet to slide inside the stem and enter the rifling at the end. This is critical. The overbore must be perfectly centered with the rifling or your bullet will be engraved more on one side than the other.
