I opened one of my gun powder file cabinets in the basement yesterday. A plastic can of AA 3100 had blistered, emitted gas, sprayed brown dust all over the other canisters & rusted the bottom of the cabinet. This is the second time this has happened, I had can of “Old Military Surplus” H322 do this. Has this happened to anyone else? The gas it emits is super corrosive!

I had an old metal can of IMR 4064 that was corroded on the inside and had the brown dust. Never had a container rupture and I'm surprised a plastic container would blister and rupture. Was rupture associated with a metal lid? I suspect that nitric acid is the culprit.

Mine usually doesn’t sit around that long. Never had any rupture. Oldest I have used was some I4350 that was about 30 years old.
