Has anyone tried the 250 grain star tip 2 (.402) with sabots? Don't know how long it is and if it will shoot with sabots in a 1 in 20 twist barrel?

The original 250's are .980 in length..225's are .890...the 200gn SST's are in between at .930. They should shoot...I've shot them in my .40 cal...very accurate...

The Star Tip 2 has an aluminum tip on it. So estimating stability is more tricky. Subtracting about half the tip length from OAL seems to get you very close using JBMs calculator without a tip selected. Leave the plastic tip selection at 0 and just add half the tip length to OAL www.jbmballistics.com/cgi-bin/jbmstab-5.1.cgiAbout 1.250" long is around max length for a .402 in a 1-20 at 2500fps Stability: 1.354

Its .955" without the tip. Still waiting on the OAL with tip but you should be fine if my guess is correct.
