I recently purchased 10 of their Vari-Flame adapters along with their depriming tool for the range. They also machined my Blackhorn 209 breech plug to accept their adapters. Has anyone here been using this setup and how do you like it?

Something similar but not the same, I converted a 10MLII and later got PR Bullet's Vari-Flame kit for it. The adapters certainly are easier to handle than the 209 primers. The accuracy wasn't much different.

At first the adapters sealed well but with continued use they began to not seal. Think it is because they are stainless. I relieved my breech plug very lightly and used an o-ring and they sealed perfectly. O-rings are good for twenty or thirty shots. Not much difference bin accuracy as danno said.

Nothing has ever given a good seal in my 10MLII, including the Vari-Flame system. Could you tell us what size O-rings you are using and where you get them?

McMaster Carr, oil resistant Buna-N O-ring. Size 1.5 mm by 4.5 mm. Part number9262K627.
If your breech plug is already made to receive the stainless adapters you just need to deepen the cavity slightly to receive the O-ring. Go very slowly and test often making sure your bolt closes with a slight rubber compressing feeling.
I did mine on an encore frame and just kept working till the action closed with a sharp snap and you could slightly feel the O-ring compress. That is the secret to stopping the blowby.
I have never done this with a bolt action. The caming action of the bolt make make the O-ring wear faster. I had zero blow by on my encore.
I think there is an old thread on this in the smokeless section. That is where I got the idea

Thank-you Quillen!! I must have missed that thread. Do your O-rings stay in the breech plug when you remove the adapters?
As this is a barrel nut gun, I will just play around with the head space until I get the correct compression on the O-ring.
Thanks again!
Sorry Nivlac for slightly changing the subject, but if your system begins to leak, ya know what to do!

Yes, the o-rings stay in the plug. I use a small hook to remove them. They are a tight fit into the plug so I sometimes use a small wooden dowel to push them into the plug.

Received the O-rings and head-spaced the 10mlII. Prior to replacing the scope, fired a shot. One shot may not prove much, but was pleased to see absolutely no carbon blow-back at all.

The o-rings worked well for me. Absolutely no blow by. Some folks just don't like having to replace them at about 20 to 30 shots but for me I don't mind it. One shipment of o-rings will probably last a lifetime no more than I shoot.
