What procedure works best to start sizing the very first bullet in a smooth form die.

Well here is what I did. I installed the die in my Rockechucker press. Then I carefully opened the die until the first bullet would pass through with no resistance. Then I closed the die slowly running a succession of bullets through and testing the resistance by attempting to insert them in my barrel drop until the desired resistance was attained. Maybe 20 lbs. Pressure measured on a bathroom scale. Now to see how they shoot.

With Pittman Bullets I run 6 or 8 pound load pressure. I used to run bullet threw sizing die once. Lately I have been running them threw the sizing die 3 times.

I go until bullet fits very easily at muzzle, so I know I'm not going to get a hammer down. Then I start backing setting out until I get the fit I want.
