I have the NEF .45 cal with a 20" bbl. slowest powder i can use using the 195 Barnes n HLB sabots. I believe that 60 gr of H4198 is max from a hinger. I will be hunting Elk with it out to 250 yds

Even 60gr of 4198 wont come close to high pressure with a sabot load BUT its very possible you wont burn it all either in a 20". Personally i would try some N120. Its slightly faster and will make a little more peak pressure. About 56gr would be a good start. Just test it in temps you plan to hunt in. Got any SR4759? Its no longer made but low amounts make pretty good speed and you should be able to burn it all in a short barrel.

I used H4198 in my converted CVA Scout 20" barrel with good success...Using the slower powders like N120, 4198, RL7 will get you a bit more speed than N110 or 4759...check out the pressure traces that TGinPa provided in the load info section (hyperlink)... Your rifle should handle up to 38k psi with no problems with sabots... Zen
