I went to The UPS Store today to send a Leupold scope back to the manufacturer (Leupold) to repair a seized power adjustment ring. They refused to ship it because it was considered a "fire arm accessory". I thought they were joking at first. I explained to them it was only an optic that sat on top of a rifle that had nothing to do with the mechanics of firing the gun. It did not seem to matter, they refused to ship it. That is when my blood started to boil and I let an F Bomb fly. I am by no means proud of my reaction. Especially since another customer in the store heard me and I embarrassed my wife and son who were with me.
It took me 2 hours to settle down . Later I went to a self serve kiosk at the post office and sent it thru the US Mail.
Afterwards I remembered were I had sent a full shotgun to my buddy in Ohio thru The UPS Store at Staples just 2 years ago. I even revealed exactly what I was sending.
I have also sent 2 long guns back and forth to manufacturers thru UPS. One of them was 3 years ago and one of them was around 7 years ago. UPS new exactly what they were because I had to sign in order to receive delivery because they were firearms.
What the hell has happened? Did I miss something?

The “UPS Store” operates on their own set rules different from regular UPS. I’ve had the same issues with them trying to ship a scope and a barrel. The last straw was when I tried shipping a stock. Yep just a none threatening piece of plastic they refused to ship. Fed Ex has no issues and now has a store close to me so they get my business now.

I specifically asked the guy who refused to ship my scope who's policy it was. I asked, ''Is that The UPS Store's policy or UPS's policy?" His answer was, "It is UPS's policy".

Just sent a ML barrel through the post office. They asked what it was, and I told them. No problem.
I've read about similar problems with individual UPS stores, so they get avoided. A main UPS terminal is the closest to me, anyway. Never had a problem there, but the P.O. is closer.

I would have demanded to see the manager. If that was the manager's stance, I would never ship from that location again. I go directly to the UPS distribution point or USPS when I ship.

i was told by a person who has a cryo teating for rifle barrels co.. never ever use UPS they said. they said fedex never ever has lost them a barrel, same for the post office. UPS has lost barrels and they just try and collect, they run you in circles and you never get anything. i wonder if one could file a small claim in small claims court and if they didnt show up that you could shut them down as it would be a atomatic win. when they payed then they could open up again. i never ever use them, post office works for me. dont worry about getting hot under the collar. your in good company. our second president said, when he was over 90 years old, one thing ive never whipped, when i get mad i cuss. (I ALSO).

Since making this post, I have found out that UPS and The UPS Store are two separate companies/entities. Had I tried shipping my scope directly through the ''regular''UPS there would have been no issue. Since then I have vowed to never give The UPS Store any of my business for as long as I live. With that said I have no issue with ''regular''UPS and will continue doing business with them in the future. The only reason I brought my scope there for shipping is because the ''regular'' UPS was closed at that hour of the day.

I owe the UPS store a favor. I ordered a .50 cal thunderhawk in 1998 and was sent a .54 cal. Tried to send it back via UPS store. They said no. Yes that long ago they also sucked. I kept it and still have it. Killed 2 deer with it this year while giving the savage the year off. F the UPS store.
