Shooting 195 barnes knurled with harvestor blue sabots and 60 gr H4198 Sabot worked well when outside temp was in 40's. Shot last week and this week when temps was in the 20's. In warmer temps the sabot swelled at the base and all petals stayed intact. Now in the 20 degree temps some petals fall off but base is still swelled but no melting or disfiguring is present. Any ideas why this happens with the extremem hodgon powder.

No idea, but I have seen the same thing with some of the petals coming off. Accuracy is still great and Im not blowing sabots so I wasn't to concerned. Im shooting 10/50 4759/I4198 duplex, but I won't shoot sabots above 60 anymore and I still use my cooling rod even when its cold outside.

Sabots get stiff in the cold. Harvester seem to more than the MMPs but the MMP tan does not work well for smokeless. The petals are simply becoming more brittle in the cold.
