Well after 4 years of trying in our short deer seasons, target shooting, climbing mountains, turning down a few iffy shots, and setting in the cold. She did it, perfect 190 yard shot and a easy recovery. One deer in the fridge, one happy hunter, and one proud Dad.
I ranged the deer at 190 with the rangefinder, it was just hanging out, full broadside on the next ridge over. I told her to hold tight behind the shoulder halfway up and down the deers body. Bullet went in behind 1 shoulder out behind the other, perfect double lunger. She has shot a .22winmag a lot at 200 yards. This was with my 7mm-08 Savage, she had a great rest, good seat and took 5 minutes to take the shot. I was alot more nervous than her, she has passed on several much shorter shots over the years, she said this one just felt good so I let her go. Deer went 20 yards and fell over grave yard dead.
7mm-08, 120BT at 3100fps, is set dead on at 200 yards and keeps them tight.
