I want a 200 grain Rem UML with the case ignition, but I came into a regular original model Rem 700 ML. I know the difference is the UML bolt having lugs And the LRM case ignition, but what is the difference in the barrels? Is it the way the barrel is attached to the receiver that makes the UML able to use 200grain charges or is it the bolt lugs?
What prevents my Rem 700ml from us in 200 grain charges? It's got the same stainless barrel.
Can I do anything to the rem 700 ml to bring it up to 200 grain black powder level?
Thank you for your time,
Josh

The weak link is the Rem 700 ML Factory Slam Fire Bolt & Breech Plug. If you want to use BH 209 powder purchase the ASG Rem 700 ML Bolt Nose Kit & Smoker Breech Plug.
Believe me, you wouldn’t like the Recoil that (4) 50 Gr 777 Mag pellets in the Rem 700 UML generates.

Thank you for your time, Josh There's a huge difference in barrels, with the Remington Ultimate being a much stronger barrel. Your Rem 700ml WIL NOT handle the same charges as the RUM. DO NOT TRY IT. You can't get your 700ml (without converting) to safely handle 200grs of black powder. DO NOT TRY IT. If you want to convert it, guys on here will tell you all you need to know. If you're interested in the Remington Ultimate, I HIGHLY suggest you consider getting rid of the OEM breech plug and have the newly designed ASG Gen2 breech plug installed, before you even fire it. You'll never regret that change! I'd also have ASG install a muzzle brake. I'd go for the T-Rex myself. I shoot an Ultimate Firearms BP Xpress (RUM's big brother), with a brake, and can shoot it all day long. Without the brake.... well, it wouldn't be an all day'er.
