Anyone with experience with these bullets at black horn speeds? Have read that they do not perform well at smokeless velocity. They shoot wonderfully in my CVA Scout conversion.

I shot them at 2250 fps and they worked well. Good enough to blow through a bull elk. As long as you are not running over 2400 fps they should work well. Stepping up to the 300 gr SST will drop the velocity slightly and the rapid expansion as well as extend your effective range (if needed).

Ive tried them in a couple rifles with large amounts of BH209. Lots of problems with keyholes. Same loads and rifles with a BE, Nosler SHG or Sierra though shot fine. I had to size them really tight with hot BH209 loads to get them close to as reliable as other bullets ive shot sabotless.

They'll do just fine all the way to 2340 FPS at least. That is the fastest I've shot them out of my CVA Scout V2 .450 Bushmaster. Shot a buck last fall, quartering away at 80 yards right in the boiler room, DRT. I shoot them a little slower in my muzzleloaders @ 2000ish, and slower yet in my 20 ga Ultra Slug Hunter @ 1800ish.
Over 30 deer taken with them, and none ever made it over 60 yards. Most were bang-flops, or went down under 20 yards.
They are up to bat again this year in the muzzleloaders and the .450 BM. Since our old shotgun zone was opened up to straight walled cartridges , .35 cal or larger, between 1.26" and 1.8" case length, I doubt my 20 ga Ultra Slug Hunter will ever see another hunt. Unless I decide to sell it.
A good bullet that is accurate, is worth way more to me than the best bullet that isn't. Just make sure you are getting 1800+ at the muzzle, put it in the boiler room, and you should have no problems!
