I shoot a knight mountaineer 50 cal with 110 grains of bh 209 with a sst 250 grain bullet. But,I hunt in the woods some times where my shots are 40 yards or less. What powder charge could I go down to and still have effective bullet accuracy and damage.I would like to re-sight my gun in at 50 yards. As of now I have it sighted in at 100 yards.Thanks.

Where I hunt her at home 150 yards is a long shot. Last year I worker the encore up a load using 70-80 grains by volume and 300 grain Parker BEs. Why use the powder or recoil when it will kill just fine shooting short.

Guess I will drop down to 80=-90 grains by volume and see what I get.

If you have a zero at 100yds, your POI at 50yds isn't really a concern. 1/2" isn't going to make a difference when hunting.
