Getting ready to do a trigger/action job on a Marlin Model 1894 in 44 mag. Allthough I have done quite a few trigger jobs over the years, I have never done one on a lever gun. Was just wondering if any of you have any tips or things to take into consideration before I start. Thank you, Rman

rifleman, Wish I could help! But I have a new Mossberg 464 lever thuty-thuty that NEEEEDS a trigger job! It is horrible. I don't trust any of the smiths we have nearby, and would like to find someone that can improve this rifle.

r-man go to the marlinowners.com website and look in the gunsmithing forum. Good info there.

dans_ I just got done looking at the marlin owners forum, what a great site! They have a ton of info, very much like our savage page, maybe even better. Found all I needed there. Thanks again for such a great tip, too bad I was too dumb to figure out that marlin owners probably have a forum too!

all this talk of lever actions and i had to pull mine out and look at it and try the trigger. mine isnt too bad. i need a scale to measure it but if i had to guess id say 4# pull. but what i did notice is how dirty the recever was. i actuall went on the marlin web sight and they tell you how to pull the bolt out to clean it and the recever. its acually quite easy. then what i did is got the carb cleaner out and washed and scrubed the recever and bolt out with a old tooth brush. and used an old bore brush to get the more stubborn stuff out. i also notice how ROUGH the bolt is. now my action isnt as smooth as my bolt and i have to wonder if this is why. if i where to smooth it out would that make it too loose and sloppy? is any one elses bolt rough? mine is a 1894S in 44 mag. R-man can you post a pic of your gun?
