I'm not sure why I want a 50 muzzle loader anymore. I've set up a 50 using a savage 10, a savage ml II barrel and Luke's bolt nose and savage breech plug and it was shooting all over the place yesterday at the range. So I need to replace my future tomato stake with something that shoots a little (OK a lot) better. I've gotten 3 45 barrels from pacnor in the past (2 just this last 6 months (mol) and they have all shot sub moa. Pacnor will thread for the savage breech plug (Luke won't and that's OK) and I've got one so that's money I don't need to spend. So has anyone used a 50 pacnor for a build, and if so how does it shoot Thanks ron

I do not have a PacNor .50 but several in other calibers, they all shoot fine. I would not see why PacNor would not build a good shooting .50 as long as you get the correct twist for your application.

Pac-Nor has always done right by me. I have 3 of their barrels (2-CF and 1-ML) and they will all shoot great. I have not done a .50 but I would not have any issues using one.

Now I'm not even close to all knowing, but the twist of 1:20 seems fast and bore is .510 which seem large, I've done some searching and it seems most ml barrels are 5.01 to .504. I've left a msg with parnor and they haven't returned my call so I guess for now I'm stuck

.510 is grooves and thats common for a ML barrel. 1-20 is kinda fast imo for a 50cal though. I think you can get a McGowen with a slower twist.
