I'm wondering how this will effect Marlin and Harrington&Richardson?

I haven't bought a Remington since the late 90s, last one I bought was cheap feeling compared to the products of the 70s and 80s. The real bargain in my estimation right now is Savage, especially in bolt guns. They may not have the smoothest barrels from the factory but that is easily remedied and then you have an extremely shootable rifle for under what a Remington cost. Recently Cabelas had a deal for $269 for a M12 with rebate--pair that with a decent stainless tube(easily swapped) and you have a potential one holer with good loads.

I don't know, I've got a pair of tc ventures that are sub moa, out of the box and the stock doesn't feel to cheap, action is a bit rough but not to bad, but the savage axis isn't to bad either but the stock is really cheap but here again change the bolt head, the mag assembly out and a 223 becomes a 30-06 (yep I did that)
