I would liked to cast 2 votes, one is the one I did and the other was the last one, I don't care what either does. I feel rifle is safe

When you start over loading a gun it will only take it so long before something happens. So keep it safe and do not over load any gun. Savage has always been a great gun maker and a safe one too.

I took the "I don't care what either does ......."
As a hunter safety instructor I teach the following to my students.
Any gun is only as safe as the person on the back end of it.
We can all make mistakes and things can go very wrong but as a responsible gun owner we have to step up and accept the responsibility for our screw ups.

Safety is a relative thing and Risk is motivated by Reward. Ex: I'm going shooting at sun-up to retest some 50 gr. loads of SR4759, then riding my Harley to Backbone State Park when I get back home. I already know which activity has a greater probability of injuring me. Then again, I'm also purchasing an Illinois Lottery ticket tonight.

Hey, i live near Devils Backbone Park that is in Grand Tower, Illinois. One of my favorite places to camp as a matter of fact! Is that the same park you are talking about or are you referring to Backbone State Park in Iowa? Pretty cool if it is the one in Southern Illinois. Why don't you register here............i'd like to see another local shooter to talk with if we live close. Later, KerryB

Manchester, Iowa. Although I just got in from a Harley ride to Starved Rock and Matthiessen today. Was getting odd double groups(4 in one overlapping hole and 2 in a figure eight about 1 1/2" away) the last two mornings and so I tore the MLII down for cleaning. Pin gaged the liner and found it at .039 so I guess I'll have to re-shoot 49 grains and up tomorrow morning before I ride to Geode. Nothing personal to Y'all, but there's a Story about why I don't register here.

SNIP Nothing personal to Y'all, but there's a Story about why I don't register here. Nothing personal, but there is nothing that we would not know about you that we already don't! Moderators can see your IP address, and that is all that can be seen if you register! You no longer need to use your email address to activate your account....and even if you did, you could use an anonymous email such as Hotmail! edge.

Whut? You guys lost me? Who is this mysterious Harley rider who could not refrain himself from speaking out? Why does Edge protect his/her Identity? Did RW move to Iowa? Is Kerry B really dating Brenda Valentine?(shudder) Is it true I am an 8 yr old girl from Cambodia who just really likes ballistics? Ah the wonders of cyber space!

My vote is number 1 - Savage has produced the finest and safest, production muzzleloader ever made period. Have several muzzleloaders blown up.... yes. But you simply can't even come close to doing this with anything near recommended loads (powder and bullets). You have to make a catastrophic human error just to make it possible. All other muzzleloaders would blow to pieces long before the Savage would... period. It is simply an overbuilt gun.... and a safe one. Toby Bridges has only done one thing.... completely ruined an already questionable reputation. Some of his writing is pretty good and informative; however, this guy has alienated virtually every manufacturer in the industry. He either intentionally blew up the muzzleloaders intentionally, or did so using excessive and experimental load/bullet combos.

I have serious, serious doubts about Mr. Bridge's claims. I shoot my Savge with no fear of any issues, provided I continue to load and shoot the gun properly.
