I bought some Easton BTV vanes and my glue is not holding them. I have always used Loctite gel on my duravanes without any problems. What glue should I use with these vanes? I'm fletching carbon shafts.

Kenny, I use the Gorilla glue from Walmart to fletch with, last batch, I bought the container that has a small brush like a fingernail polish brush. Did a neater job than the squeeze type nozzle for me. Wipe the vanes and shaft with alcohol and then use the Zing primer pen on the vanes before applying the glue. Shot these arrows all summer and still haven't had a vane come off. Zing primer pen. www.walmart.com/ip/Flex-Fletch-Zing-Primer-Pen-4-Oz/52524527

I'm fletching carbon shafts. IMO, the absolute most important thing in gluing vanes is cleaning! The shaft and the vane need the contact area cleaned with alcohol, and I also use Scotch Brite on mating surfaces. edge.

What do you use on aluminum shafts?

Haven't done any for years. Pretty sure I used acetone on aluminum shafts for prepping but alcohol still on the vanes. Back then I used Fletchtite but don't see why you couldn't use what you have for adhesive.

I tried the gorilla glue on my aluminum after cleaning with alcohol, shafts and fletching, no good. Then did my other vanes the same way and it worked just fine, go figure.
