Just one of many afternoon/late evening dep. hunts...I keep on thinking each year we will not hit the target number...but we do easily. Rifles are both .243s and Savages.1 is a Savage Predator Max and the other is a plain old 110. Both are killing machines using 85 grn GMXs. 6 on the ground and 2 hanging and being boned out on the kill wagon this evening. This is about the max we will shoot in one hunt with just 2 of us. We only take does but the doe to Buck ratio is still way out of whack here. Unless you have lived it and seen it you can't fathom the amount of deer on these farms.Unreal...

Can you chase a few over to the west? That's about how many I see in a week of hunting. Illinois is still in a slump as far as harvest goes-- down from last year which wasn't a banner year.

You two have helped the food pantries and getting the balance in order. The .243s work well.

I am originally from Charleston Illinois and use to chase them whitetails in the Embarrass river valley area. Killed some nice deer there in my youth. Use to see a lot of deer.

Wish we here in NE Iowa had more of your problem. Today was the first day of 2d Shotgun Season. There were 10X more hunters out than there are deer. Several times, it sounded more like battle skirmishes were going on than hunting season. After the first shot, the deer are on the run and according to DNR, just as many are wounded to die later as those which are taken. Man, I HATE this legal "party hunting"!!

That's whackin' and stackin' 'em. Sort of like the big game version of woodchuck hunting but a lot more work after you pull the trigger

I got three doe deer (Firearms season)haven't seen a buck only on the camera's but use to see lots of them for some reason they have been coming out very late I get tons of deer coming to the corn pile 3AM. Everyone I have spoken to have said the same thing from surrounding farms. Well 2 weeks of muzzle loader is coming Saturday maybe with the cold weather finally here they will show them self earlier during legal shooting time. Getting to use my Rem/Brux that todd fixed for me
