I just ordered a Rem 700 UML. What is normally done to convert these to a sml? Without changing the barrel if possible I have and use a Savage ML1 I have owned for about 12 years or so. To do all of the accurizing to this it was going to cost over a grand for starters so I ordered the Rem for $775. Seems like the stock and trigger on the Rem should be usable on a sml application and maybe the barrel.

It's cheaper to just buy a regular Rem 700 ML. Although the Remmy 700 UML has a nice stock on it. Either way you would have to get the conversation kit and a Barrel pre threaded to except the LMRP system or convert it to 209.

You should have just changed the barrel out on your savage to a 45 caliber Brux or Pacnor. And done a Boyds stock and it would have been a whole cheaper In the long run.

I have 2 friends that changed their stocks, barrels, trigger work and bedded the stocks along with another stock screw and ram rod and they were $1200+. Which would be fine but 2 things mine is the first run, a ML 1 so if remember correctly from what I read here there was somthing else that needed to be done. And 2, I go to VA annually deer hunting so I really was in need of a back up gun in case I dropped mine from a tree stand or somthing. It looked like the Rem has a decent stock, trigger and I read they have a good barrel, but it now seems maybe not upto sml pressures which I had not herd.

The Rem 700 UML action makes for a nice conversion. I sold all the parts from mine to help fund the build. Only kept the action because the stock didn't fit me. 26 " Krieger 1/20 twist .45 cal

Just find a savage or Stevens sa and build it and keep the Remington stock. If you look you should be able to find one for $200 or less. You could use axis as well that's a little cheaper but aftermarket options are low.
Mine started as an axis and shoot 1 moa with little work and then I found a Stevens 200 cheap that would fit in my xlr chassis.

Thank you I have contacted two people and send payment for stock breach plugs Rem UML. I know that you may think I am wired but I have about 75 brass and like the stock set up. I tried fumbling around with 209 primers and it does not suit my hands (huge). So I am still looking for any more stock UML breach plugs new or in decent shape. I am not going to ever use Black horn, I find triple 7 and magnum works fine. When I have to switch I will. 612-327-3490 or send text or email. Joe

I see the loading data for 777 and Remington 250 AccuTip bullets is 4 50/50 pellets. Am I ok using 4 50/50 with other 250 grain bullets like belted or just saboted bullets? I am running original breach plugs and primed cases. Joe

(4) Pellets has SERIOUS RECOIL & is usually Not as Accurate.

Backing down 20grs by using 3-T7M pellets works very well and with 300gr bullets.

Use Blackhorn by weight, start around 70gr, if you are going to keep it as a smoker

If you are shooting sabots as I am now, do you brush after each shot or how often?

Does anyone know of some one who sells bulk full bore bullets (box 50) or so for target practice? I got a bullet sizer for when I start shooting FB or belted. $30 for 15 or 20 is over a buck a bullet?
