Got one in 300 RSAUM that I traded for some fishing gear...........could it be converted to a SML or would it be to big of a PIA?

The biggest drawback to a Model 7 is the action is small and not very rigid. Supporting a big old porky barrel folks seem to think are necessary on a SML these days would mean a lot of flex. I have been contemplating that same thing. I have a Model 7 action that was a 308 that is blueprinted and would make a great lightweight SML, but only in that configuration. Think fluted Sendero taper barrel. Not saying you can't do a fat heavy barrel on one, but it would not be my first or second or third choice.

A modified sendero around 23" should make it a nice packin rig. Go for it!!

Smaller than a model 7, I once used a 600 action and had a big barrel (1.375 for 7" tapered to 1" @ 25)
Short answer, yes, you can absolutely use that action. Only possible drawback is the magnum bolt size
