Did allot of research on what caliber to get for elk hunting, really wanted a 7-08 or 30-06 but after research thought a mag caliber would keep me from buying a different gun down the road. So I found the Venture on sale at Cabela's for $379 + $75 rebate + $5 veteran discount + $115 gift card to Cabela's from work so I ended up spending $200 on the gun. Had a Vortex Diamond Back Scope as a back up and threw that on the rifle. Found some ammo at Walmart on clearance 50% off so I bought three boxes. I got the gun on paper today and had to stop but did shoot a 3 shot group with a wobbly table. With everything I'm Happy with results. I'll get a Boyds stock for it and get the action bedded by next year and maybe a nicer scope but it may work for my needs. 100 yards Federal Cheap Ammo Soft Point

Nothing wrong with that. For off the shelf ammo and a rifle straight out of the box.. Can't ask for much better. With a little fine tuning and some hand loads I bet you close the group up even more.
I think you made a fine choice.
