I got picked for an IN State Park deer reduction hunt again this year. It had a year off of hunting last season so it should be replenished a little for this year. My bud and I killed our limit of 3 each about 4yrs ago there. Still got 2 more Nature Preserve draws coming. One has never been hunted. Wooohooo! Wish us luck!

No, Chain O Lakes. Think there are 9 lakes total, but real nice terrain. Lots of easy ridges and ravines. Probably my favorite park I have hunted, beside the hometown one of Potato Creek. Have been to approx 9 or 10, and hunted 6 I can think of. Always have fun at park and nature preserve hunts because the time is limited to a couple days, so you got to make your time count.

Flunked out on my two nature preserve draw hunts this time. We have scouted the state park though, and found some great sign on the edges of a big dry swamp. We found a tree for each of us to put stands in that are about 400yds apart near each end. Its surrounded on 3 sides by pockets of thickets. We should be able to cover every inch of he swamp and whatever openings we can see into the thickets. He will have an H&R single shot reamed to 445SM and I will be toting my 358win 1.8" short neck Encore rifle. Indiana passed certain HPR cals this year on private land only. So we got to use public land legal cals. No problem, these are proven rounds.

As of day one, three of us have killed 4 deer. Three nice does and a spike buck with decent weight. I am going back solo for day two. Stories to follow.
