Thanks for the compliments!
But one thing you guys need to realize, is that any and all of you can have these guns...Build them your self for $1500 or have someone build it for you.
But when it comes to accuracy, one has to remember that you can't neglect any part of the gun as a total package.
What I mean by this is, you can have a new Savage Target Action and a Krieger or Brux barrel, but if you don't have a high quality scope, and top notch rings and base. Your money is wasted.
Another thing that some guys seem to forget is, you absolutely need to find a bullet that shoots well in your gun.
Some of the cheaper bullets do shoot well, I will admit. But generally it's the APBs, KPs and now cMc's that shoot the best.
If you don't shoot the best bullet for your gun, you literally are wasting your time and money if you are seeking to shoot sub MOA groups time and again.
If you build the gun yourself, by the time you have the scope on top of it, you can have from $2000-$2500 into it. So why would you handicap yourself at the range, or in the field, by shooting cheap, inaccurate bullets?
Remember any of you can do this!
My first long range group with a SML was with the MLII I bought back it 2004.
I talked with Dave D, for 1 hour about SMLs
I then bought a Pacnor barrel from from Luke, in Dec. 2011 Bought some 300 MHs, loaded up the obligatory 70 grains of IMR4198, and the 1st group I shot with it at 400 yards was 1 1/2".
I just about sh*t a purple twinkie! I literally couldn't believe it! (ask kralik4jr...) I did 3 cart wheels right there, on the cold, cold ground.
So bottom line is this....if you want to shoot the most accurate SML you can...
You need to build every part of your SML with top notch parts
You HAVE to shoot quality bullets that are accurate in your gun
And you need to have a good rest...
...sub MOA at 500 yards here you come!
